Aroldis Chapman Shows Why He Shouldn’t Be a Closer. Huh?

Don’t mistake the title of my article as though I don’t think Chapman should be a closer.  It’s not that at all.  However, there were concerns about how the young hurler would fair with his 100+ MPH fastball with only one inning to get it working.  Last night against the Tigers, everything fell apart for Arnoldis Chapman. Chapman was forced to entered the game with runners on first and second and no outs in the … Read entire article »

The Case For Arnoldis Chapman Closing For The Cincinnati Reds

If you haven’t heard of Arnoldis Chapman, where have you been? He is the 24-year old Cuban phenom with a 100+ MPH fastball, but there is so much more to him. Whether it’s because of the current closer being completely ineffective or just the random injury, here are five relievers who could step into the job in 2011.  I recommend picking these guys up if you own the closers they currently pitch in front of. Note, I’m not picking these guys because I think the closers in front of them will lose their jobs necessarily.  I’m just saying they have the right stuff.
