Trouble In Atlanta For Kimbrel; Venters Closing?
I’ve been keeping an eye on this situation for about a week now as CRAZY Fredi Gonzalez, manager of the Atlanta Braves is up to no good again. If you remember Fredi Gonzalez from his Florida Marlins days. He often makes quick decisions on his bullpen and everyday starters for that matter. Kimbrel And Rivera Open Up The Season With Saves, Axford Blows it!
Atlanta 2 Washington 0 I never lost faith that Craig Kimbrel would walk out of the bullpen for the ninth inning and that was certainly confirmed when Jonny Venters pitched the eighth. Kimbrel came in and looked fairly sharp. He needed 18 pitches (11 strikes) and finished with a perfect save and two strikeouts. Here are some early returns for some tight closer battles during 2011 Spring Training. Craig Kimbrel Vs. Jonny Venters – So far, at least stat wise the job is going to Venters.
