Explaining Kyle Farnsworth’s Elbow Injury
Apr 25th, 2012 at 12:18 pm by Robbie Knopf This article was found on Rays Colored Glasses, a great website and blog for Tampa Bay Rays fans. Kyle Farnsworth completely turned around his career in 2011. But at the end of the season, he went down with an elbow injury, and that same injury has kept him out thus far in 2012. That was unfortunate because he pitched so well. But there was something off. Farnsworth … Read entire article »

The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly. Weekly Injury Update: April 15, 2012
2012 has been a terrible year for MLB Closers. Before the season even started, we lost Joakim Soria and Ryan Madson. Then Drew Storen and Andrew Bailey were knocked out for a significant amount of time. Now, it looks as though Brian Wilson will be out for the year or at least quite awhile with structural damage in his elbow. That may sound like a horror movie in the making for fantasy baseball managers, but it gets … Read entire article »

Pitchers Who Could Be Closing By September. Part 2
Here is part 2 of my report on pitchers who could be closers by September. Every season closers come and go and it frustrates the heck out of fantasy managers. The list I compiled below are the leading candidates that likely won’t open the season as the closer for his perspective team, but could end the season the closer. These pitchers will get the job either from the current closer getting injured or the … Read entire article »

Hot/Cold Closers 4.19.2010
Each week I will present the HOT and COLD closers for the week. HOT CLOSERS Mariano Rivera, NYY – Rivera locked down three saves and for kicks, a win. He has had a great start to the season with seven saves, but I still maintain that is health throughout the season could cause headaches for fantasy managers. Chris Perez, CLE – Perez only recorded one save over 2.1 innings of work. He is still sporting … Read entire article »

Against All Odds: Farnsworth Continues To Roll, 3rd Save
I wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t see it with my own eyes. Kyle Farnsworth not only beat out Jake and the Fatman Man Megee and Joel Peralta for the closer job to open the season, but he is actually 3/3 in save opprotunities. He been near purchase, posting a 1.69 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in his first 5.1 innings of work. He also has five strikeouts, but even more impressive, no walks. That will be … Read entire article »

MLB Spring Training: Fantasy Closer Battles
Here are some early returns for some tight closer battles during 2011 Spring Training. Craig Kimbrel Vs. Jonny Venters – So far, at least stat wise the job is going to Venters. He’s thrown four perfect innings, while striking out three. Kimbrel has also struckout three in 2.1 innings, but has a ERA at 15.43 on 4 ER thanks to a bad outing. In my opinion it’s Kimbrel’s job to lose, not Venters to win. Kevin … Read entire article »

2011 Fantasy Baseball: Top 10 Closers To Avoid Drafting
As it is every year, closers come and go throughout the season. Whether it is performance based or injury, they will be replaced. Here are 10 closers that despite their ADP, career numbers, or Closer Report Draft Kit ranking, I’d avoid at all costs. 1. Ryan Franklin, STL- Ok, wasn’t his 15 minutes up two years ago? Give credit where it’s do to the steroid survivor that he’s lasted this long. He will LIKELY open as the … Read entire article »
