Pitchers Who Could Be Closing By September. Part 2
Here is part 2 of my report on pitchers who could be closers by September. Every season closers come and go and it frustrates the heck out of fantasy managers. The list I compiled below are the leading candidates that likely won’t open the season as the closer for his perspective team, but could end the season the closer. These pitchers will get the job either from the current closer getting injured or the … Read entire article »

Padilla Saves A Game, Broxton Still Safe
I had the pleasure of watching today’s Dodger game and I got to see everything that happened with the Dodger bullpen. I know that people are going to run out and grab Vincente Padilla and think he is the Dodger closer. Have fun, I’ll pass. Broxton was getting rest. He had pitched the two days before yesterday and was getting two days off. It’s nothing more. Padilla will be a completely ineffective closer and … Read entire article »

MLB Spring Training: Fantasy Closer Battles
Here are some early returns for some tight closer battles during 2011 Spring Training. Craig Kimbrel Vs. Jonny Venters – So far, at least stat wise the job is going to Venters. He’s thrown four perfect innings, while striking out three. Kimbrel has also struckout three in 2.1 innings, but has a ERA at 15.43 on 4 ER thanks to a bad outing. In my opinion it’s Kimbrel’s job to lose, not Venters to win. Kevin … Read entire article »

10 Value Pick Closers For Fantasy Drafts
2011 offers a surplus of value pick closers. Here are ten closers you need to eye in your fantasy draft for the best value for your pick. (No particular order) ADP statistics provided by www.mockdraftcentral.com. Craig Kimbrel, Atl – ADP: 282. Kimbrel is going on average in the 24th round. We are talking about the flame throwing Braves closer. A Braves closer should never go that late in the draft. Steal him in the … Read entire article »

Top 10 Sleeper Closers For 2011
1. Craig Kimbrel, Atlanta Braves – This guy is the right-handed version of Billy Wagner. With a 98MPH fastball and a propensity to strikeout batters, Kimbrel has what it takes to close. He’s on a great team that will provide him with plenty of save opportunities. He also lacked any serious competition in the Braves bullpen, though Venters is slightly capable. 2. Drew Storen, Washington Nationals – Last year I felt some heat with discussing … Read entire article »

Los Angeles Dodgers Team Report
This job is sadly up for grabs. The Dodgers will start spring training with plans in place for Jonathan Broxton to be the closer, but after his failures last season, they cannot trust him at this point. While injuries slowed Broxton down in 2010, that isn’t the whole picture. Broxton broke down and by August 13, he was no longer the closer. While he plans to enter 2011 fit and healthy, the Dodgers and … Read entire article »

Broxton Pulls Out 4th Save Old School Style
Our favorite closer this year Jonathan Broxton amazed us again with another stud performance. He was brought into the game with the bases loaded and one out in the 8th inning. He struck out 2 batters that inning and ended up with 4 strikeouts and a save. Broxton is clearly becoming one of the most dominating closers in baseball. His only issue remains his loss of control. He definitely feels comfortable and has the mentality for the job. If any pitcher in baseball can break 50 saves and 100 strikeouts it is Jonathan Broxton. Get him if you can. … Read entire article »
