Closer Trade Deadline Rumors: New York Yankees
The Yankees are a team that we know will make moves at the trade deadline. They are looking for just about anything they can get their hands on, but are focusing on pitching. While most of their efforts have been focused on a starting pitcher like Ulbaldo Jimenez of the Colorado Rockies, they have been flirting with players to help their injury ravaged bullpen. The Yankees bullpen is the weak link on the team and will … Read entire article »

Closers Wanted: MLB Teams On The Hunt
In July and even into August I expect to see several trades involving closers and setup men. Teams are always in need of good relief pitching and start stacking their bullpens for a playoff run. Big Mo, Big No! 1st Blown Save of 2011
Of course you expect me to grandiose Mariano Rivera’s first blown save of season, don’t you? Rivera has been in cruise control all season, but Tuesday night he just wasn’t dealing Rivera style. While he threw well and looked healthy, he missed his spots and with a little luck the Blue Jays pounced on him for two runs on four hits and a walk. You could tell that even Rivera knew it wasn’t his night when … Read entire article »

Kimbrel And Rivera Open Up The Season With Saves, Axford Blows it!
Atlanta 2 Washington 0 I never lost faith that Craig Kimbrel would walk out of the bullpen for the ninth inning and that was certainly confirmed when Jonny Venters pitched the eighth. Kimbrel came in and looked fairly sharp. He needed 18 pitches (11 strikes) and finished with a perfect save and two strikeouts. We will see where it goes from here, but I have no doubt that Kimbrel will continue to get the call. NY Yankees … Read entire article »

2011 Fantasy Baseball: Top 10 Closers To Avoid Drafting
As it is every year, closers come and go throughout the season. Whether it is performance based or injury, they will be replaced. Give credit where it’s do to the steroid survivor that he’s lasted this long. He will LIKELY open as the … Read entire article »

The future of Mariano Rivera
What does the future hold for arguably the greatest closer of all time? By the end of the the next season, Mariano Rivera will be the ripe old age of 42. For the first time in his career, Rivera started to show his age. In 2010, Rivera battled both an oblique injury and inflammation in his right knee. While Rivera was able to pitch through the injuries, it eventually took it’s toll on the … Read entire article »
