Baltimore Orioles
(CL) Jim Johnson (R)–Pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation forcing all three batters that he faced to ground out. With this outing Johnson lowered his earned-run average to 1.29 on the season. (06/11/12)
(SU) Pedro Strop (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Saturday giving up one run on three hits and needed 24 pitches to get through the appearance. He was charged with his third blown-save of the season, but the offense was able to battle back to win the game so he was off the hook. (06/10/12)
(MR) Darren O’Day (R)–Picked up the win on Sunday after pitching a scoreless 10th inning. With this outing O’Day improves to 4-0 on the season with a 1.78 earned-run average and is starting to become a person of interest in holds leagues. (06/11/12)
Injured–Matt Lindstrom (15-Day DL)
Boston Red Sox
(CL) Alfredo Aceves (R)–Took the loss on Sunday after giving up one run on one hit and one walk in the ninth inning. Aceves has now given up three runs in his last three outing combined and has now pitched in back-to-back games. (06/11/12)
(SU) Franklin Morales (L)–Pitched three innings of relief on Saturday retiring all nine batters he faced in order striking out three. This was Morales second straight appearance being used in long relief so it appears the Red Sox will be using him in this role from now on. (06/10/12)
(MR) Vicente Padilla (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. He threw 10 pitches in the appearance forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out. (06/07/12)

Chicago White Sox
(CL) Addison Reed (R)–Picked up his first win of the season on Thursday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit while striking out one batter. This was Reed’s first appearance since giving up two runs on Saturday, so he appears to have turned the corner. (06/08/12)
(SU) Matt Thornton (L)– Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Friday night giving up one run on one hit while striking out two batters. The run he allowed was unearned, so at least he didn’t hurt his owners in holds leagues too much. (06/09/12)
(MR) Hector Santiago (L)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Friday surrendering two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out two batters. Santiago needed 29 pitches to get through the appearance in what was his first outing his last Saturday. (06/09/12)
Cleveland Indians
(CL) Chris Perez (R)–Recorded his 20th save of the season on Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit while striking out one batter. Perez leads all closers in 2012 with 20 saves and is currently sitting on a 2.59 earned-run average. (06/11/12)
(SU) Vinnie Pestano (R)–Picked up the win on Sunday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning giving up three walks while striking out two batters. Pestano was able to work out of the jam, but this is definitely not what you want to see out of your setup man. (06/11/12)
(MR) Tony Sipp (L)–Picked up his eighth hold of the season on Wednesday after pitching a scoreless sixth inning. Sipp has been shaky thus far in 2012, but he will continue to rack up holds as the season progresses. (06/07/12)
Detroit Tigers
(CL) Jose Valverde (R)–Recorded his 12th save of the season on Sunday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning and striking out one batter in his efforts. After a shaky start to the season, Valverde is really starting to come around, so be sure to get him in your lineups if you were hesitant the last month or so. (06/11/12) (SU) Joaquin Benoit (R)–Picked up his 16th hold of the season on Sunday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning giving up one hit while striking out one batter. He needed 21 pitches to get through the appearance, forcing one ground ball out to go along with his two strikeouts. (06/11/12)
(MR) Octavio Dotel (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Saturday giving up one run on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. He needed 29 pitches to get through the appearance and will likely be given the day off on Sunday after pitching in back-to-back games. (06/03/12)
Kansas City Royals
(CL) Jonathan Broxton (R)–Recorded his 14th save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. He gave up one hit and one walk in the outing, but was able to get out of the jam by forcing one ground ball out and two fly ball outs. (06/06/12)
(SU) Greg Holland (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Sunday and struck out the side on 13 pitches thrown. This was a great performance from Holland, who now has four strikeouts in his last three innings of relief. (06/11/12)
(MR) Aaron Crow (R)–Pitched a scoreless sixth inning on Saturday retiring all three batters he faced in order. He struck out two batters in the appearance and now has three strikeouts in his last two innings of relief. (06/10/12)

Los Angeles Angels
(CL) Ernesto Frieri (R)– Picked up his fourth hold of the season on Sunday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning striking out two batters in his efforts. The Angels elected to go with Frieri in the eighth inning and Scott Downs in the ninth inning, but expect to see Frieri in the ninth inning in most cases. (06/11/12)
(SU) Scott Downs (L)–Recorded his sixth save of the season on Sunday despite giving up his first earned-run of the season on three hits. Downs, not Ernesto Frieri, was used in the ninth inning in this contest, but Downs is expected to be the setup man in most situations. (06/11/12)
(MR) Jordan Walden (R)–Pitched the ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation giving up one run on two hits while striking out two batters. Walden needed 23 pitches to get through the appearance and raised his earned-run average to 3.20 on the season. (06/09/12)
Minnesota Twins
(CL) Matt Capps (R)–Picked up his first win of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless 10th inning giving up two hits while striking out one batter. Despite allowing two base runners, Capps was able to force two fly ball outs to go along with his strikeout to get out of the jam. (06/09/12)
(SU) Glen Perkins (L)–Was charged with his second blown-save of the season on Friday after giving up two runs on three hits in 0.2 innings of relief. Perkins was really on a role as of late, but this was definitely a step back for him. (06/09/12)
(MR) Brian Duensing (L)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Sunday retiring all four batters he faced in order on 10 pitches. With this appearance Duensing lowered his earned-run average to 2.64 on the season. (06/11/12)
New York Yankees
(CL) Rafael Soriano (R)–Was charged with his first blown-save of the season on Sunday after giving up one run on three hits in the ninth inning. He has now pitched back-to-back days so don’t expect to see him in action on Monday against the Braves. (06/11/12)
(SU) Boone Logan (R)–Picked up the win on Sunday after recording the final two outs of the ninth inning. He faced just two batters in the appearance and has now pitched back-to-back days. (06/11/12)
(MR) Cory Wade (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Sunday giving up one walk while striking out one batter. He needed 21 pitches to get through the appearance and has now pitched back-to-back days. (06/11/12)

Oakland Athletics
(CL) Brian Fuentes (L)–Took the loss on Friday night after giving up a three-run home run to Ryan Roberts in the ninth inning. Fuentes has now given up four runs in his last 2.2 innings of relief and may find himself outside of the closer role if he keeps this up. (06/09/12)
(SU) Ryan Cook(R)–Picked up his 11th hold of the season on Friday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. He gave up one hit while striking out three batters in the appearance, which was his first outing since last Saturday. (06/09/12)
(MR) Grant Balfour (R)–Picked up his second hold of the season on Friday after pitching 1.1 innings of relief giving up one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. He needed 25 pitches to get through the appearance and has now pitched in back-to-back games. (06/09/12)

Seattle Mariners
(CL) Tom Wilhelmsen (R)–Recorded his third save of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order on nine pitches. Wilhelmsen is really starting to settle into the closer role for the Mariners and should keep that role for the foreseeable future. (06/09/12)
(SU) Brandon League (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Sunday surrendering two runs on four hits in the appearance. He needed 27 pitches to get through the outing and was able to limit the damage by forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out. (06/11/12)
(MR) Stephen Pryor (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Saturday forcing the only two batters he faced to fly out to end the ninth inning. Pryor has now pitched in back-to-back games and three of the last four days, so don’t expect to see him in action on Sunday. (06/10/12)
Injured–George Sherrill (15-Day DL)
Tampa Bay Rays
(CL) Fernando Rodney (R)–Recorded his 18th save of the season on Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit in the outing. This was Rodney’s first save since June 1, but he still gave plenty of value outside of the saves category in the time between saves. (06/11/12)
(SU) Joel Peralta (R)–Picked up his 15th hold of the season on Sunday despite giving up one run on two hits while striking out two batters. This wasn’t Peralta’s best outing by any means, but at least he escaped giving up just one run. (06/11/12)
(MR) J.P. Howell (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Thursday giving up one run on one hit in the ninth inning. The run came via a Russell Martin home run in nobody on, but it was enough for Joe Madden to not allow him to finish out the inning. (06/08/12)
Injured–Kyle Farnsworth (15-Day DL)
Texas Rangers
(CL) Joe Nathan (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. He needed only nine pitches in the outing, forcing one strikeout, one ground ball out and one fly ball out. (06/11/12)
(SU) Mike Adams (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Sunday giving up two hits while striking out one batter. With this appearance Adams lowered his earned-run average to 3.43 on the season. (06/11/12) (MR) Koji Uehara (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Saturday surrendering two runs on four hits while striking out one batter. He needed 25 pitches to get through the appearance, which was his first since last Saturday. (06/10/12)
Toronto Blue Jays
(CL) Casey Janssen (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation giving up one hit while striking out one batter. This was Jansen’s first appearance in a week, so despite the huge lead the Blue Jays wanted him to get some work in. (06/11/12)
(SU) Jason Frasor (R)– Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation giving up one hit while striking out two batters. He needed 19 pitches to get through the appearance and has now pitched in back-to-back games. (06/09/12)
(MR) Francisco Cordero (R)–Took a loss for the second straight game Friday night after recording just one out in the 10th inning. He gave up one run, which was not earned, but he was still on the mound when the runner crossed home plate, so he was charged with the loss. (06/09/12)

Arizona Diamondbacks
(CL) J.J. Putz (R)–Recorded his 13th save of the season on Sunday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. He needed only 11 pitches to get through the appearance, forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out. (06/11/12)
(SU) David Hernandez (R)–Picked up his 10th hold of the season on Sunday after striking out the side in the eighth inning. This may have been Hernandez’s best outing of the season, so hopefully this will get him going in the right direction. (06/11/12)
(MR) Bryan Shaw (R)–Picked up his sixth hold of the season on Sunday despite giving up one run on two hits and one walk in the outing. He faced six batters in the seventh inning, but was able to limit the damage to just one run. (06/11/12)

Atlanta Braves
(CL) Craig Kimbrel (R)–Recorded his 18th save of the season on Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out one batter. Kimbrel has now pitched in back-to-back games and may be given the day off on Sunday. (06/10/12)
(SU) Jonny Venters (L)–Picked up his 12th hold of the season on Friday after pitching a scoreless seventh inning giving up one walk while striking out one batter. Venters has now pitched three consecutive days so he will likely be unavailable to pitch on Saturday. (06/09/12)
(MR) Eric O’Flaherty (L)–Was charged with his third blown-save of the season on Friday night after giving up one run on one hit in the eighth inning. O’Flaherty has now pitched three consecutive days and will likely be unavailable to pitch on Saturday. (06/09/12)
Chicago Cubs
(CL) James Russell (L)–Pitched one inning of relief on Sunday giving up two runs on three hits in the outing. Both runs were unearned, but he needed 35 pitches to be able to record three outs in this contest. (06/11/12)
(CL) Shawn Camp (R)–Took the loss and picked up his second blown-save of the season on Friday after surrendering two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one batter. Camp threw 30 pitches in the outing and has now pitched in back-to-back games. (06/09/12)
(MR) Carlos Marmol (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Wednesday surrendering three runs on three hits while striking out one batter. This was a terrible outing for Marmol and he has now given up four runs in his last 1.2 innings of relief. (06/07/12)
Cincinnati Reds
(CL) Aroldis Chapman (L)–Took the loss on Sunday after surrendering two runs on two hits and one walk in the ninth inning. Chapman now has back-to-back losses and blown-saves, so hopefully he will be able to rebound from this, which is something he has yet to experience. (06/11/12)
(SU) Sean Marshall (L)–Gave up a hit to the only batter that he faced in the seventh inning and threw only two pitches in the appearance. With an outing of this nature it is hard to really judge it, so don’t consider this outing when you evaluate his performance, since he only threw two pitches. (06/11/12)
(MR) Jose Arrenondo (R)–Arrenondo walked the only batter that he faced in the seventh inning on Sunday on five pitches. He was relieved by Sean Marshall in the inning, but neither were able to get the job done. (06/11/12)

Colorado Rockies

(SU) Matt Belisle (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Sunday giving up one run on two hits in the outing. He needed only 12 pitches to get out of the eighth inning, forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out. (06/11/12)
(MR) Matt Reynolds (L)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation giving up one hit in the outing. He needed 12 pitches to get through the appearance and forced two ground ball outs and one fly ball out to get the job done. (06/10/12)
Houston Astros
(CL)Brett Myers (R)–Recorded his 15th save of the season on Sunday after forcing the final two batters of the ninth inning to fly out on eight pitches. Myers was only used in this game because Fernando Rodriguez blew a huge lead in the inning, but it worked out nicely for Myers and his owners. (06/11/12)
(SU) Brandon Lyon (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Saturday striking out the only batter that he faced on six pitches. He was called upon after Rhiner Cruz gave up four runs in the inning, so Lyon was likely not going to pitch in this game if that didn’t happen. (06/10/12)
(MR)Wilton Lopez (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Sunday giving up one run on one hit. The one run came via a Paul Konerko home run in the eighth inning, but even with that home run Lopez’s earned-run average is sitting at 2.51 on the season. (06/11/12)

(CL) Kenley Jansen (R)–Recorded his ninth save of the season on Wednesday despite giving up one run on one hit and one walk in the ninth inning. Jansen has now pitched in three consecutive games and will likely be given the day off on Thursday. (06/07/12)
(SU) Scott Elbert (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Sunday giving up one hit and one walk in the outing. He needed 14 pitches to record two outs in the eighth inning, but was relieved by Jamey Wright to prevent any damage. (06/11/12)
(MR) Josh Lindblom (R)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Friday giving up one run while striking out one batter in the appearance. He threw 22 pitches in the in what was his third appearance in the last four days. (06/09/12)

Miami Marlins
(CL) Heath Bell (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation giving up one hit while striking out one batter. This was Bell’s first outing since last Sunday, so this was just a routine pitching day for him so expect him to be ready to go for the rest of this weekend’s series with the Rays. (06/09/12) (SU) Edward Mujica (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Sunday retiring all six batters he faced in order. He threw just 11 pitches in the appearance forcing three ground ball outs and three fly ball outs. (06/11/12) (MR) Steve Cishek (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Saturday giving up one run on two hits and two walks. He needed 27 pitches to get through the appearance, which raised his earned-run average to 2.10 on the season. (06/10/12)
Milwaukee Brewers
(CL) John Axford (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Sunday surrendering three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one batter. Axford was relieved by Jose Veras after recoding just one out in the inning, and he went on to record his first save of the season. (06/11/12)
(SU) Francisco Rodriguez (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Sunday giving up two hits in the appearance. He needed 22 pitches to force three fly ball outs to get himself to help himself escape from the jam unharmed. (06/11/12)
(MR) Kameron Loe (R)–Picked up his fourth hold of the season on Friday night after pitching 1.1 innings of relief throwing just six pitches in the appearance. This was Loe’s first outing since Sunday, so with that low of a pitch count, he should be good-to-go for the rest of the weekend. (06/09/12)

(CL) Frank Francisco (R)–Recorded his 15th save of the season on Thursday despite giving up one run on one hit in the ninth inning. The run came via a Ryan Zimmerman home run, but luckily for Francisco no one was on base at the time. (06/08/12)
(SU) Jon Rauch (R)–Took the loss on Sunday after giving up a game-winning home run to Russell Martin in the bottom of the ninth inning. Rauch has now given up three runs in his last two innings of relief and is really starting to lose the confidence of the Mets management. (06/11/12)
(MR) Bobby Parnell (R)–Failed to record an out on Sunday after relieving Jonathon Niese in the eighth inning. He gave up two runs on four hits and threw 14 pitches before being relieved by Tim Byrdak. (06/11/12)
Philadelphia Phillies
(CL) Jonathan Papelbon (R)–Recorded his 16th save of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. He gave up one hit while striking out one batter in the appearance lowering his earned-run average to 2.22 on the season. (06/09/12)
(SU) Antonio Bastardo (L)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday retiring all three batters he faced in order on eight pitches thrown. He struck out two batters in the appearance and now has 11 strikeouts in his last four innings of relief. (06/10/12)
(MR) Chad Qualls (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Saturday giving up one hit while striking out two batters on 28 pitches thrown. With that high of a pitch count, don’t expect to see him used on Sunday. (06/10/12)

Pittsburgh Pirates
(CL) Joel Hanrahan (R)–Recorded his 17th save of the season on Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Hanrahan has now pitched in three consecutive games and will likely be unavailable out of the bullpen on Sunday. (06/10/12)
(SU) Jason Grilli (R)–Recorded his first save of the season on Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit and one walk while striking out two batters. He was only used in this situation because Joel Hanrahan was unavailable, so don’t go running to the waiver-wire to pick him up. (06/11/12)
(MR) Chris Resop (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Saturday giving up three hits in the outing. He loaded the bases in the fifth inning, but was able to get the job done by forcing three fly ball outs to get out of the jam. (06/10/12)
Injured–Chris Leroux (60-Day DL)
San Diego Padres
(CL) Huston Street (R)–Recorded his fifth save of the season on Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. This is Street’s first save since returning from the disabled-list earlier in the week and he looked much sharper than his first outing on Tuesday. (06/10/12)
(SU) Dale Thayer (R)–Picked up his first hold of the season on Saturday after pitching 0.1 innings of relief. With Andrew Cashner now in the starting rotation expect Thayer to take over the setup role for the Padres, which means increased value in holds leagues. (06/10/12)
(MR) Luke Gregerson (R)–Picked up his seventh hold of the season on Saturday after pitching one inning of relief. He struck out two batters in the appearance while forcing a fly ball out for the other out. (06/10/12)
San Francisco Giants
(CL) Santiago Casilla (R)–Recorded his 16th save of the season on Saturday after striking out the last batter in the ninth inning on four pitches. He was called upon to finish out the game after Clay Hensley gave up a home run in the ninth inning, and was able to get the job done fast for a cheap-save. (06/10/12)
(SU) Sergio Romo (R)–Romo faced just one batter on Saturday and forced him to ground out on five pitches. Since Santiago Casilla returned from injury don’t expect to see Romo to get any save chances, but at least we now know he can close it needed. (06/10/12)
(MR) Javier Lopez (L)–Failed to record an out Saturday after giving up a hit to the only batter that he faced in the eighth inning. He was used for a certain situation, so even though he only gave up one hit he was removed so Sergio Romo could face a right-handed batter. (06/10/12)

St. Louis Cardinals
(CL) Jason Motte (R)–Took the loss on Sunday after surrendering three runs on two hits and one walk while striking out two batters. The big blow came off the bat of Jason Kipnis, who hit a three-run home run in the inning, which ended up being the deciding factor in this contest. (06/11/12)
(SU) Mitchell Boggs (R)–Pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning on Sunday needing only nine pitches to get through the appearance. He forced two ground ball outs and one fly ball out and has now put together three straight solid appearances. (06/11/12)
(MR) Eduardo Sanchez (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Thursday retiring all three batters he faced in order on 11 pitches thrown. He struck out one batter in the appearance while forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out. (06/08/12)
Washington Nationals
(CL) Tyler Clippard (R)–Recorded his eighth save of the season on Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk while striking out three batters. Clippard has now pitched in three straight games so he will likely be given the night off on Sunday, so expect Brad Lidge or Sean Burnett to be used in the a save situation if one arises. (06/11/12)
(SU) Sean Burnett (L)–Picked up his 10th hold of the season on Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. He needed only 12 pitches to get through the appearance, lowering his earned-run average to 0.95 on the season. (06/10/12)
(MR) Brad Lidge (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Friday night giving up one run on one hit and one walk. He threw just nine pitches in the appearance, which was his first back since coming off of the disabled-list and hopefully he can give a better showing next time out.
