Baltimore Orioles

Jim Johnson (R)–Recorded his 27th save of the season on Wednesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit in the appearance. He threw just six pitches in the outing forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out to get the job done. (07/19/12) (SU) Pedro Strop (R)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Tuesday night giving up two hits and one walk in the outing. Strop got himself into a jam but was able to work out of it by forcing two ground ball outs and two fly ball outs to get the job done. (07/18/12)

Darren O’Day (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Monday night surrendering three runs on four hits in the outing. With this appearance O’Day raised his earned-run average to 3.16 on the season. (07/17/12)

Boston Red Sox
(CL)
Alfredo Aceves (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Monday night in a non-save situation giving up one walk in the outing. Aceves has now pitched back-to-back days and will likely be given the day off on Tuesday. (07/17/12)

Vicente Padilla (R)–Picked up the win on Monday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning striking out one batter on 13 pitches thrown. With this appearance Padilla goes to 3-0 on the season with a 3.71 earned-run average. (07/17/12)

Mark Melancon (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Wednesday retiring all three batters he faced in order. With this appearance he lowered his earned-run average to 5.89 on the season, which seems high, but after his terrible start in April, it has vastly improved. (07/19/12)

Addison Reed (R)–Recorded his 15th save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. He struck out one batter in the appearance and has now recorded back-to-back saves in his last two outings. (07/18/12)

Matt Thornton (L)– Pitched one inning of relief on Tuesday surrendering three runs on three hits while striking out one batter. This was a rough outing for Thornton, but at least he didn’t take the loss. (07/18/12)
(MR)
Hector Santiago (L)–Pitched three innings of relief on Wednesday giving up two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out four batters. He threw 45 pitches in the appearance, so don’t expect to see him take the mound on Thursday. (07/19/12)

Cleveland Indians

Chris Perez (R)–Recorded his 26th save of the season on Monday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out two batters in the appearance. Perez is now two-for-two in save chances in the second half of the season with three strikeouts. (07/17/12)

Phil Coke (L)–Pitched 1.2 innings of relief on Saturday giving up two walks in the outing. He allowed a few base runners but was able to work out of the jam by forcing four ground ball outs and one fly ball out. (07/15/12)

Kansas City Royals
(CL) Jonathan Broxton (R)–Recorded his 22nd save of the season on Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Broxton bounced back nicely form a blown-save on Friday night, but has now pitched back-to-back days and will likely be given the day off on Sunday. (07/15/12)

Aaron Crow (R)–Was charged with his fourth blown-save of the season on Wednesday after giving up two runs on three hits in 0.2 innings of relief. With this appearance Crow raised his earned-run average to 4.08 on the season. (07/19/12)

Scott Downs (L)–Picked up his 16th hold of the season on Sunday after pitching 0.2 innings of relief giving up one hit and two walks in the outing. Downs was removed after loading the bases, but escaped unharmed after Kevin Jepsen cleaned up the mess forcing Alex Rodriguez to pop-out to end the game. (07/16/12)

Jordan Walden (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Sunday giving up one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. He needed 21 pitches to get through the appearance with 12 pitches going over for strikes. (07/09/12)

Glen Perkins (L)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday retiring all three batters he faced in order. With Matt Capps back on the disabled list, expect to see Perkins and Jared Burton split the save chances. (07/19/12)

Jared Burton (R)–Recorded his third save of the season on Tuesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk while striking out one batter. Burton received the first save chanced with Matt Capps on the disabled list, but expect him to split the closer role with Burton moving forward. (07/18/12)
(MR) Alex Burnett (R)–Picked up the win on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless seventh inning giving up one hit in the outing. With this appearance Burnett improved to 3-2 on the season with a 2.78 earned-run average. (07/18/12)

David Robertson (R)–Picked up the win on Monday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning giving up one walk in the outing. With this appearance Robertson improved to 1-3 on the season with a 2.36 earned-run average. (07/17/12)

Boone Logan (R)–Picked up his 12th hold of the season on Tuesday night after pitching 0.2 innings of relief. HE forced both batters he faced in the seventh inning to ground out on seven pitches thrown lowering his earned-run average to 3.62 on the season. (07/18/12)

Grant Balfour (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Wednesday giving up one hit while striking out two batters. He needed 18 pitches to get the final two outs of the sixth inning with 12 pitches going over for strikes.  (07/19/12)

Joel Peralta (R)–Picked up his 20th hold of the season on Tuesday night after pitching 1.1 innings of relief. He struck out two batters in the appearance while forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. (07/18/12)

Wilton Lopez (R)–Picked up his eighth hold of the season on Monday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning giving up one hit while striking out one batter. With this appearance Lopez lowered his earned-run average to 2.29 on the season. (07/17/12)

(CL) Kenley Jansen (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday in a non-save situation giving up one hit and two walks while striking out one batter. (MR) Josh Lindblom (R)–Pitched a scoreless 11th inning on Wednesday allowing one hit while striking out two batters. With this appearance Lindblom lowered his earned-run average to 3.09 on the season. (07/19/12)

Miami Marlins
(CL) Steve Cishek (R)–Recorded his second save of the season on Saturday after pitching 1.2 innings of relief giving up one hit while striking out three batters. This was the first save chance for the Marlins since going to a closer-by-committee, which means it appears Cishek has an upper hand on the other pitchers in the Marlins bullpen. (07/15/12)

Mike Dunn (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Wednesday giving up one run on two hits and one walk. He was used to get through the seventh inning and was able to end to inning, but not without giving up a run. (07/19/12)

Francisco Rodriguez (R)–Recorded his third save of the season on Wednesday despite giving up one run on one hit and three walks while striking out two batters in the ninth inning. John Axford (R)–Picked up the win on Wednesday after pitching 1.1 innings of relief giving up one hit while striking out one batter. This was Axford’s first appearance since losing the closer role to Francisco Rodriguez, and is now 3-6 on the season. (07/19/12) (MR) Kameron Loe (R)–Retired the final batter of the ninth inning on Monday night needing only three pitches to get the job done. He forced the only batter he faced to fly out in relief of John Axford. (07/17/12)

New York Mets
(CL)
Bobby Parnell (R)–Was charged with his fifth blown-save of the season Tuesday night after giving up one run on three hits in the ninth inning. Parnell has now blown saves in each of his two appearance since the All-Star break, which has really hurt his case to stay in the ninth inning role once Frank Francisco returns to action. (07/18/12)
(SU) Jon Rauch (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Wednesday striking out two batters in the appearance. Rauch has been pitching better as of late, and should still be considered a decent player for holds leagues. (07/19/12)

Miguel Batista (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief giving up two runs on three hits while striking out one batter in the appearance. He needed 14 pitches to get through the outing with nine pitches going over for strikes. (07/19/12)

(CL) Jonathan Papelbon (R)–Was charged with his third blown-save of the season on Wednesday after surrendering two runs on four hits in the 10th inning. He struck out two batters in the appearance while forcing the only other batter he faced to fly out to get out of the inning. (07/19/12)

Jeremy Horst (L)–Failed to record an out in his appearance on Wednesday after giving up a hit to the only batter that he faced. He threw just five pitches in the inning and the hit that he gave up ended up not being an issue. (07/19/12)

Jason Grilli (R)–Picked up his 23rd hold of the season on Wednesday after pitching 0.1 innings of relief giving up one hit and one walk in the outing. This was not a typical outing from Grilli, but he was able to escape from the appearance unharmed. After allowing two base runners, Cruz was relieved by Joel Hanrahan to close out the game. (07/18/12)

Santiago Casilla (R)–Picked up the win on Wednesday despite giving up two runs on two hits in the 10th inning. He was also charged with his sixth blown-save of the season, and may be losing his hold on the closer role. (07/19/12)
