American League

Baltimore Orioles
(CL) Jim Johnson (R)–Recorded his 38th save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. He struck out one batter in the appearance while forcing two fly ball outs on 15 pitches thrown to get the job done. (08/22/12)
(SU) Pedro Strop (R)–Picked up his 23rd hold of the season on Tuesday after pitching 1.1 innings of relief. He struck out one batter in the appearance while forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out on 23 pitches thrown. (08/22/12)
(MR) Darren O’Day (R)–Failed to record an out in his appearance on Tuesday night after giving up one hit and one walk on eight pitches thrown. Despite allowing two base runners O’Day was able to escape without giving up a run. (08/22/12)

Boston Red Sox
(CL) Alfredo Aceves (R)–Took the loss and was charged with his seventh blown-save of the season on Thursday night after surrendering five runs on six hits and one walk in the ninth inning. This was a terrible outing from Aceves and with Anderw Bailey back in the mix his job is not as safe as it once was. (08/24/12)
(SU) Andrew Bailey (R)–Was charged with his first blown-save of the season on Thursday after giving up one run on three hits in 0.1 innings of relief. He struck out one batter in the appearance while forcing one fly ball out on 17 pitches thrown. (08/24/12)
(MR) Vicente Padilla (R)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Thursday night giving up one walk while striking out one batter in the outing. With this appearance Padilla lowered his earned-run average to 4.35 on the season. (08/24/12)

Chicago White Sox
(CL) Addison Reed (R)–Recorded his 23rd save of the season on Wednesday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit in the outing. He needed 16 pitches to get through the inning striking out two batters while forcing one ground ball out. (08/23/12)
(SU) Brett Myers (R)–Picked up his fifth hold of the season on Wednesday night after forcing the only batter that he faced in the eighth inning to ground out on three pitches. Myers has now pitched back-to-back days but with a day off on Thursday he should be ready to go for Friday.  (08/23/12)
(MR) Matt Thornton (L)– Picked up his 20th hold of the season on Tuesday after pitching 0.2 innings of relief retiring both batters he faced in order. He needed 10 pitches to get through the outing foricvng one ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. (08/22/12)

Cleveland Indians
(CL) Chris Perez (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Sunday retiring all three batters he faced in order. He struck out one batter in the appearance while forcing two fly ball outs on just 14 pitches thrown. (08/20/12)
(SU) Vinnie Pestano (R)–Took the loss on Wednesday after surrendering two runs on two hits and one walk in the eighth inning. Despite the rough outing from Pestano he is still sitting on a 1.83 earned-run average on the season. (08/23/12)
(MR) Tony Sipp (L)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Monday night giving up one run on two hits in the appearance. He needed 24 pitches to get through the outing forcing two ground ball outs and two fly ball outs. (08/21/12)

Detroit Tigers
(CL) Jose Valverde (R)–Recorded his 25th save of the season on Wednesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit in the outing. He needed 13 pitches to get through the appearance forcing two fly ball outs to get the job done. (08/23/12)
(SU) Joaquin Benoit (R)–Picked up the win on Thursday afternoon after retiring the final two batters of the 11th inning. He needed only 10 pitches to get through the appearance forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. (08/24/12)
(MR) Phil Coke (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Thursday afternoon striking out the only batter that he faced on six pitches thrown. With this appearance Coke lowered his earned-run average to 3.75 on the season. (08/24/12)

Kansas City Royals
(CL) Greg Holland (R)–Recorded his sixth save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless 10th inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. He forced three fly ball outs on 11 pitches thrown while lowering his earned-run average to 3.00 on the season. (08/22/12)
(SU) Aaron Crow (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Wednesday giving up one run on one hit while striking out one batter. With this appearance Crow raised his earned-run average to 3.60 on the season. (08/23/12)
(MR) Tim Collins (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Wednesday retiring the only batter that he faced on three pitches. Since last Saturday Collins has pitched just 0.2 innings of relief so with a day off on Thursday he should be good to go for this weekend’s series with the Red Sox. (08/23/12)

(CL) Ernesto Frieri (R)– Picked up the win despite being charged with this second blown-save of the season on Thursday after surrendering two runs in two innings of relief. Despite the rough outing Frieri still walked away with the win while striking out four batters in his efforts. (08/24/12)
(SU) Kevin Jepsen (R)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Thursday retiring all three batters he faced in order. Jepsen struck out one batter while forcing two fly ball outs on 12 pitches thrown and has now pitched three straight days. (08/24/12)
(MR) Scott Downs (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Thursday night giving up two hits in the outing. He was able to get out of the jam by forcing one fly ball out needing nine pitches to get through the appearance. (08/24/12)

Minnesota Twins
(CL) Glen Perkins (L)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Wednesday giving up just one hit in the outing. He needed 13 pitches to get through the appearance forcing three ground ball outs in his first outing since last Sunday. (08/23/12)
(CL) Jared Burton (R)–Took the loss on Thursday night after giving up six runs on three hits and two walks in 0.2 innings of relief. Only one of the six runs was earned, but this is still an appearance that Burton will want to forget. (08/24/12)

New York Yankees
(CL) Rafael Soriano (R)–Recorded his 31st save of the season on Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit in the outing. He gave up a leadoff hit to Carl Crawford, but was able to forcing a double play followed by striking out Adrian Gonzalez to get the job done. (08/20/12)
(SU) David Robertson (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Wednesday giving up one hit in the outing. He needed 15 pitches to get through the appearance forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out to get the job done. (08/23/12)
(MR) Boone Logan (R–Took the loss on Monday night after surrendering two runs on two hits and one walk in 1.2 innings of relief. With this appearance Logan falls to 4-2 on the season and he has now given up four runs in his last 2.2 innings of relief. (08/21/12)

(CL) Ryan Cook(R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday afternoon in a non-save situation giving up one hit while striking out three batters. With this appearance Cook lowered his earned-run average to 2.58 on the season. (08/23/12)
(MR) Jordan Norberto (L)–Picked up the win on Friday night after pitching 1.2 innings of relief striking out two batters. With this appearance Noberto improved to 4-1 on the season with a 2.77 earned-run average. (08/18/12)

Seattle Mariners
(CL) Tom Wilhelmsen (R)–Recorded his 19th save of the season on Wednesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk while striking out one batter. With this appearance Wilhelmsen lowered his earned-run average to 2.37 on the season. (08/23/12)
(SU) Lucas Luetge (L)–Recorded his second save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching 1.1 innings of relief. He gave up just one hit in the appearance while striking out two batters and forcing two ground ball outs with Tom Wilhelmsen unavailable. (08/22/12)
(MR) Shawn Kelley (R)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Monday giving up one hit while striking out three batters in the appearance. With this outing Kelley lowered his earned-run average to 3.41 on the season. (08/14/12)

(SU) Brandon Lyon (R)–Picked up his fifth hold of the season on Thursday afternoon despite giving up one run on one hit in 0.1 innings of relief. With this appearance Lyon raised his earned-run average to 2.03 on the season. (08/24/12)

(SU) David Hernandez (R)–Picked up his 19th hold of the season in Game 1 of Wednesday’s doubleheader after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. He struck out two batters while forcing one ground ball out on nine pitches to get the job done. (08/23/12)
(MR) Bryan Shaw (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Monday night giving up one walk in the outing. He needed 16 pitches to get through the appearance forcing three ground ball outs to get through the eighth inning. (08/21/12)
Injured–Takashi Saito (15-Day DL)

Atlanta Braves
(CL) Craig Kimbrel (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday night in a non-save situation striking out the side on just 12 pitches thrown. In his last three appearances Kimbrel now has seven strikeouts, which brings him to 82 on the season. (08/23/12)
(SU) Eric O’Flaherty (L)–Picked up his 20th hold of the season on Wednesday despite giving up one run on two hits and one walk in the eighth inning. The run was unearned, so O’Flaherty is still sitting on a 2.22 earned-run average. (08/23/12)
(MR) Jonny Venters (L)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Monday giving up one walk in the appearance. Venters needed only seven pitches to get through the appearance forcing three ground ball outs. (08/21/12)

Chicago Cubs
(CL) Carlos Marmol (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Tuesday night giving up one unearned-run on one hit and one walk. This was not Marmol’s best outing of the year, but at least he escaped without giving up an earned-run. (08/22/12)
(SU) James Russell (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Wednesday afternoon forcing the only batter that he faced to fly out on four pitches thrown. With this appearance Russell lowered his earned-run average to 3.62 on the season. (08/23/12)
(MR) Shawn Camp (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Wednesday afternoon allowing one hit in the outing. He forced two fly ball outs on 12 pitches thrown in the appearance, which was his first since last Sunday. (08/23/12)

Cincinnati Reds
(CL) Aroldis Chapman (L)–Recorded his 31st save of the season on Wednesday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit in the outing. Chapman needed 20 pitches to get through the appearance forcing three fly ball outs to get the job done. (08/23/12)
(SU) Jonathan Broxton (R)–Picked up the win on Tuesday despite being charged with his second blown-save since joining the Reds after giving up one run on two hits and one walk. With this appearance Broxton raised his earned-run average to 7.50 since coming over from the Royals. (08/22/12)
(MR) Sean Marshall (L)–Picked up his 16th hold of the season on Thursday despite giving up one hit while striking out two batters. In his last 3.1 innings of relief Marshall has six strikeouts, but it has been overshadowed by Aroldis Chapman and all of his strikeouts. (08/24/12)

Colorado Rockies
(CL) Rafael Betancourt (R)–Recorded his 25th save of the season on Wednesday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. He allowed one hit and one walk in the outing but was able to get out of the jam by forcing one strikeout and two fly ball outs on 25 pitches thrown. (08/23/12)
(SU) Matt Belisle (R)–Recorded his first save of the season on Thursday afternoon after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit in the outing. Rafael Betancourt was unavailable to pitch and Belisle took full advantage, but don’t expect much more appearances like this tone. (08/24/12)
(MR) Matt Reynolds (L)–Failed to record an out in his appearance on Wednesday night giving up a hit to the only batter he faced in the eighth inning. He threw just two pitches in the appearance so expect him to be available Thursday despite pitching back-to-back days. (08/23/12)

Houston Astros
(CL) Wilton Lopez (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation giving up one hit in the outing. With this appearance Lopez lowered his earned-run average to 2.25 on the season and has just one save since taking over the closer role. (08/20/12)
(SU) Fernando Rodriguez (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Wednesday night giving up one run on two this and one walk while striking out one batter. With this appearance Rodriguez raised his earned-run average to 5.65 on the season. (08/23/12)
(MR) Rhiner Cruz (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Thursday giving up one run on four hits while striking out one batter. With this appearance Cruz raised his earned-run average to 6.90 on the season and may get demoted if he can’t turn things around. (08/24/12)

(SU) Heath Bell (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday giving up two walks while striking out two batters on 26 pitches thrown. With this appearance Bell lowered his earned-run average to 5.69 on the season. (08/22/12)
(MR) Mike Dunn (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Wednesday night striking out the only batter that he faced on six pitches thrown. Dunn has now pitched back-to-back days but with a day off on Thursday he should be ready to go for Friday’s game against the Dodgers. (08/23/12)

(SU) Francisco Rodriguez (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday retiring all three batters he faced in order. He struck out one batter in the appearance while forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out on just six pitches thrown. (08/22/12)
(MR) Jim Henderson (R)–Picked up his second hold of the season on Wednesday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning giving up one walk while striking out one batter. With this appearance Henderson lowered his earned-run average to 3.97 on the season. (08/23/12)

New York Mets
(CL) Frank Francisco (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Wednesday night surrendering two runs on three hits. With this appearance Francisco raised his earned-run average to 6.42 on the season and continues to struggle with his command. (08/23/12)

(SU) Antonio Bastardo (L)–Pitched one inning of relief on Tuesday giving up one run on one hit and one walk while striking out two batters. Bastardo has now pitched back-to-back days and will likely be unavailable to pitch on Wednesday. (08/22/12)
(MR) Josh Lindblom (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Wednesday night giving up one run on two hits while striking out one batter. With this appearance Lindblom raised his earned-run average to 3.72 on the season. (08/23/12)
