American League

Baltimore Orioles
(CL) Jim Johnson (R)–Recorded his 39th save of the season on Friday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Johnson looked great in this appearance needing only 12 pitches to forcing one ground ball out while striking out two batters to close out the game. (08/25/12)
(SU) Pedro Strop (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night giving up eon walk while striking out two batters on 20 pitches thrown. With this appearance Strop lowered his earned-run average to 1.43 on the season. (08/25/12)
(MR) Darren O’Day (R)–Failed to record an out in his appearance on Friday night giving up a hit to the only batter he faced in the seventh inning. This marks the second straight appearance in which he failed to record an out and he will need to turn things around to keep up his role in the Orioles bullpen. (08/25/12)

Boston Red Sox
(CL) Alfredo Aceves (R)–Took the loss and was charged with his seventh blown-save of the season on Thursday night after surrendering five runs on six hits and one walk in the ninth inning. This was a terrible outing from Aceves and with Anderw Bailey back in the mix his job is not as safe as it once was. (08/24/12)
(SU) Andrew Bailey (R)–Recorded his first save of the season on Friday night after retiring the last four batters in the game. This was Bailey’s fist shot at closing this season, but as of now Alfredo Aceves is still the team’s closer. (08/25/12)
(MR) Vicente Padilla (R)–Picked up his 21st hold of the season on Friday night after pitching 0.1 innings of relief. He gave up one hit while striking out one batter on nine pitches thrown lowering his earned-run average to 4.32 on the season. (08/25/12)

Chicago White Sox
(CL) Addison Reed (R)–Picked up the win despite being charged with his fourth blown-save on Friday night after surrendering three runs in the ninth inning. This was a rough outing for Reed, but at least he was able to walk away with the win. (08/25/12)
(SU) Brett Myers (R)–Picked up his fifth hold of the season on Wednesday night after forcing the only batter that he faced in the eighth inning to ground out on three pitches. Myers has now pitched back-to-back days but with a day off on Thursday he should be ready to go for Friday.  (08/23/12)
(MR) Matt Thornton (L)– Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. He struck out one batter in the appearance while forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. (08/25/12)

Cleveland Indians
(CL) Chris Perez (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. He needed 15 pitches to get through the appearance forcing one ground ball out and two fly ball outs. (08/25/12)
(SU) Vinnie Pestano (R)–Took the loss on Wednesday after surrendering two runs on two hits and one walk in the eighth inning. Despite the rough outing from Pestano he is still sitting on a 1.83 earned-run average on the season. (08/23/12)
(MR) Tony Sipp (L)–Pitched a scoreless sixth inning on Friday night giving up one hit in the outing. With this appearance Sipp lowered his earned-run average to 4.64 on the season bouncing back from a bad outing on Monday. (08/25/12)

Detroit Tigers
(CL) Jose Valverde (R)–Recorded his 25th save of the season on Wednesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit in the outing. He needed 13 pitches to get through the appearance forcing two fly ball outs to get the job done. (08/23/12)
(SU) Joaquin Benoit (R)–Picked up the win on Thursday afternoon after retiring the final two batters of the 11th inning. He needed only 10 pitches to get through the appearance forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. (08/24/12)
(MR) Phil Coke (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Thursday afternoon striking out the only batter that he faced on six pitches thrown. With this appearance Coke lowered his earned-run average to 3.75 on the season. (08/24/12)

Kansas City Royals
(CL) Greg Holland (R)–Recorded his sixth save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless 10th inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. He forced three fly ball outs on 11 pitches thrown while lowering his earned-run average to 3.00 on the season. (08/22/12)
(SU) Aaron Crow (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night retiring all three batters he faced in order on 12 pitches thrown. He struck out one batter in the appearance while forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. (08/25/12)
(MR) Tim Collins (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Friday allowing one walk while striking out two batters in the appearance. With this appearance Collins lowered his earned-run average to 3.53 on the season. (08/25/12)

Los Angeles Angels
(CL) Ernesto Frieri (R)– Picked up the win despite being charged with this second blown-save of the season on Thursday after surrendering two runs in two innings of relief. Despite the rough outing Frieri still walked away with the win while striking out four batters in his efforts. (08/24/12)
(SU) Kevin Jepsen (R)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Thursday retiring all three batters he faced in order. Jepsen struck out one batter while forcing two fly ball outs on 12 pitches thrown and has now pitched three straight days. (08/24/12)
(MR) Scott Downs (L)–Picked up his 19th hold of the season on Friday night after pitching 0.2 innings of relief. He retired both batters he faced in order via ground balls and has now pitched back-to-back days so don’t expect to see him used on Saturday. (08/25/12)

Minnesota Twins
(CL) Glen Perkins (L)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Wednesday giving up just one hit in the outing. He needed 13 pitches to get through the appearance forcing three ground ball outs in his first outing since last Sunday. (08/23/12)
(CL) Jared Burton (R)–Took the loss on Thursday night after giving up six runs on three hits and two walks in 0.2 innings of relief. Only one of the six runs was earned, but this is still an appearance that Burton will want to forget. (08/24/12)
(MR) Alex Burnett (R)–Pitched a scoreless sixth inning on Wednesday retiring all three batters he faced in order. He needed 16 pitches to get through the appearance forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out to get the job done. (08/23/12)
Injured–Matt Capps (15-Day DL)

New York Yankees
(CL) Rafael Soriano (R)–Recorded his 32nd save of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Soriano made it interesting after allowing two hits and one walk in the appearance, but he was able to get the job done by striking out one batter while forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out on 28 pitches thrown. (SU) David Robertson (R)–{Picked up his 18th hold of the season on Friday after retiring both batters he faced in the eighth inning. He struck out one batter while forcing one ground ball out on just six pitches thrown. (08/25/12)
(MR) Boone Logan (R–Took the loss on Monday night after surrendering two runs on two hits and one walk in 1.2 innings of relief. With this appearance Logan falls to 4-2 on the season and he has now given up four runs in his last 2.2 innings of relief. (08/21/12)

Oakland Athletics
(CL) Grant Balfour (R)–Recorded his 13th save of the season on Friday night despite giving up one run on one hit and one walk in the ninth inning. This was not the best outing from Balfour, but he was able to keep his composure and get the job done. (08/25/12)
(SU) Ryan Cook(R)–Picked up the win on Friday after pitching 1.2 innings of relief giving up one walk while striking out four batters. With this appearance Cook improves to 6-2 on the season with a 2.50 earned-run average. (08/25/12)
(MR) Jordan Norberto (L)–Picked up the win on Friday night after pitching 1.2 innings of relief striking out two batters. With this appearance Noberto improved to 4-1 on the season with a 2.77 earned-run average. (08/18/12)
Injured–Joey Devine (15-Day DL)

Seattle Mariners
(CL) Tom Wilhelmsen (R)–Took the loss and was charged with his third blown-save of the season on Friday night after surrendering two runs on three hits and one walk in the ninth inning. He recorded just one out in the appearance needing 17 pitches before blowing the game wide open. (08/25/12)
(SU) Lucas Luetge (L)–Recorded his second save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching 1.1 innings of relief. He gave up just one hit in the appearance while striking out two batters and forcing two ground ball outs with Tom Wilhelmsen unavailable. (08/22/12)
(MR) Oliver Perez (L)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night giving up one hit while striking out one batter. With this appearance Perez lowered his earned-run average to 1.74 on the season and continues to thrive out of the Mariners bullpen. (08/25/12)

Tampa Bay Rays
(CL) Fernando Rodney (R)–Recorded his 39th save of the season on Wednesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Rodney retired all three batters he faced in order forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out on 12 pitches thrown. (08/23/12)
(SU) Joel Peralta (R)–Took the loss on Thursday night after giving up two runs on two hits in the eighth inning. This was the second straight outing in which Peralta blew the game for the Rays and if he doesn’t turn it around he will likely be replaced with Kyle Farnsworth in the setup role. (08/25/12)
(MR) Kyle Farnsworth (R)–Picked up his fifth hold of the season on Wednesday after forcing the only batter he faced in the eighth inning to ground out. With this appearance Farnsworth lowered his earned-run average to 3.38 on the season. (08/23/12)

Texas Rangers
(CL) Joe Nathan (R)–Recorded his 25th save of the season on Thursday night after retiring the final out of the ninth inning. He needed just seven pitches to get through the appearance forcing one fly ball out to get the job done. (08/24/12)
(SU) Mike Adams (R)–Picked up the win on Thursday after pitching a scoreless inning of relief giving up one walk while striking out two batters. With this appearance Adams lowered his earned-run average to 2.63 on the season. (08/24/12)
(MR) Robbie Ross (L)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation giving up one hit while striking out one batter. With this appearance Ross lowered his earned-run average to 1.69 on the season. (08/25/12)

(SU) Brandon Lyon (R)–Picked up his fifth hold of the season on Thursday afternoon despite giving up one run on one hit in 0.1 innings of relief. With this appearance Lyon raised his earned-run average to 2.03 on the season. (08/24/12)
(MR) Steve Delabar (R)–Pitched 1.1 inning of relief on Friday night giving up two runs on three hits and one walk. He needed 31 pitches to get through the appearance forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out while striking out two batters. (08/25/12)

Arizona Diamondbacks

(SU) David Hernandez (R)–Picked up his 19th hold of the season in Game 1 of Wednesday’s doubleheader after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. He struck out two batters while forcing one ground ball out on nine pitches to get the job done. (08/23/12)
(MR) Bryan Shaw (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night giving up just one hit in the outing. He needed 16 pitches to get through the appearance forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out while lowering his earned-run average to 4.40 on the season. (08/25/12)
Injured–Takashi Saito (15-Day DL)

Atlanta Braves
(CL) Craig Kimbrel (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday night in a non-save situation striking out the side on just 12 pitches thrown. In his last three appearances Kimbrel now has seven strikeouts, which brings him to 82 on the season. (08/23/12)
(SU) Eric O’Flaherty (L)–Picked up his 20th hold of the season on Wednesday despite giving up one run on two hits and one walk in the eighth inning. The run was unearned, so O’Flaherty is still sitting on a 2.22 earned-run average. (08/23/12)
(MR) Jonny Venters (L)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Friday night giving up one walk while striking out two batters. With this appearance Venters lowered his earned-run average to 3.30 on the season. (08/25/12)

Chicago Cubs
(CL) Carlos Marmol (R)–Recorded his 16th save of the season on Friday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit while striking out one batter. This was Marmol’s first appearance since Tuesday so expect him to be available for the rest of the weekend. (08/25/12)
(SU) James Russell (L)–Picked up the win on Friday afternoon after pitching 0.2 innings of relief needing only five pitches. He retired both batters he faced in order forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. (08/25/12)
(MR) Shawn Camp (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Friday afternoon forcing the only batter that he faced to fly out on just three pitches thrown. With this appearance Camp lowered his earned-run average to 3.69 on the season. (08/25/12)

Cincinnati Reds
(CL) Aroldis Chapman (L)–Recorded his 31st save of the season on Wednesday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit in the outing. Chapman needed 20 pitches to get through the appearance forcing three fly ball outs to get the job done. (08/23/12)
(SU) Jonathan Broxton (R)–Picked up the win on Tuesday despite being charged with his second blown-save since joining the Reds after giving up one run on two hits and one walk. With this appearance Broxton raised his earned-run average to 7.50 since coming over from the Royals. (08/22/12)
(MR) Sean Marshall (L)–Picked up his 16th hold of the season on Thursday despite giving up one hit while striking out two batters. In his last 3.1 innings of relief Marshall has six strikeouts, but it has been overshadowed by Aroldis Chapman and all of his strikeouts. (08/24/12)

Colorado Rockies
(CL) Rafael Betancourt (R)–Recorded his 25th save of the season on Wednesday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. He allowed one hit and one walk in the outing but was able to get out of the jam by forcing one strikeout and two fly ball outs on 25 pitches thrown. (08/23/12)
(SU) Matt Belisle (R)–Took the loss on and was charged with his sixth blown-save of the season on Friday after giving up three runs on three hits in 0.1 innings of relief. Belisle has now pitched back-to-back days and will likely be given the day off on Saturday. (08/25/12)
(MR) Matt Reynolds (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Friday after retiring both batters he faced in order on eight pitches thrown. He forced one fly ball out in the appearance, which was his first since Wednesday. (08/25/12)

Houston Astros
(CL) Wilton Lopez (R)–Recorded his second save of the season on Friday night after pitching 1.1 innings of relief. He retired all four batters he faced in order striking out one batter while forcing one ground ball out and two fly ball outs to get the job done. (08/25/12)
(SU) Fernando Rodriguez (R)–Picked up his 12th hold of the season on Friday after retiring both batters he faced in the eighth inning. He struck out one batter in the appearance while lowering his earned-run average to 5.57 on the season. (08/25/12)
(MR) Rhiner Cruz (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Thursday giving up one run on four hits while striking out one batter. With this appearance Cruz raised his earned-run average to 6.90 on the season and may get demoted if he can’t turn things around. (08/24/12)

Miami Marlins
(CL) Steve Cishek (R)–Recorded his 10th save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless 10th inning giving up one hit and one walk in the outing. Cishek got himself into a bit of a jam but was able to work out of it by striking out two batters while forcing one ground ball out to get the job done. (08/22/12)
(SU) Heath Bell (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday giving up two walks while striking out two batters on 26 pitches thrown. With this appearance Bell lowered his earned-run average to 5.69 on the season. (08/22/12)
(MR) Mike Dunn (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Wednesday night striking out the only batter that he faced on six pitches thrown. Dunn has now pitched back-to-back days but with a day off on Thursday he should be ready to go for Friday’s game against the Dodgers. (08/23/12)
Injured–Juan Oviedo (15-Day DL)

Milwaukee Brewers
(CL) John Axford (R)–Picked up his third hold of the season on Friday night despite allowing two runs on two hit and two walks in the ninth inning. He only recorded two outs before being pulls for Kameron Loe, who was able to get the job done. (08/25/12)
(SU) Francisco Rodriguez (R)–Picked up his 22nd hold of the season on Friday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. He needed only 10 pitches to get through the appearance forcing three ground ball outs to get the job done. (08/25/12)
(MR) Jim Henderson (R)–Picked up his third hold of the season on Friday night after retiring the final batter of the seventh inning. He threw just three pitches in the appearance so expect him to be available out of the bullpen on Saturday. (08/25/12)

New York Mets
(CL) Frank Francisco (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Friday night giving up one walk while striking out two batters on 16 pitches thrown. Francisco has struggled as of late, but this outing shows he can still force enough swing and misses to get the job done. (08/25/12)
(SU) Jon Rauch (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday in a non-save situation giving up one hit and one walk in the outing. This was Rauch’s first appearance since Monday so expect him to be available on Friday against the Astros. (08/24/12)
(MR) Bobby Parnell (R)–Took the loss on Thursday after giving up one run on three hits in the eighth inning. With this appearance Parnell falls to 2-3 on the season while raising his earned-run average to 3.18 which is respectable. (08/24/12)
Injured– Tim Byrdak (15-Day DL)

Philadelphia Phillies
(CL) Jonathan Papelbon (R)–Recorded his 28th save of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. He gave up one hit in the appearance but was able to get the job done on 14 pitches thrown. (08/25/12)
(SU) Antonio Bastardo (L)–Picked up his 19th hold of the season on Friday after striking out the only batter he faced in the eighth inning. He needed only eight pitches to get through the appearance which was his first since Tuesday. (08/25/12)
(MR) Josh Lindblom (R)–Picked up his 19th hold of the season on Friday night despite failing to record an out in the appearance. He walked the only batter he faced on five pitches but was awarded a hold since the runner did not factor into the decision. (08/25/12)
Injured–David Herndon (15-Day DL)

Pittsburgh Pirates
(CL) Joel Hanrahan (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. He needed only 10 pitches to get through the appearance forcing one ground ball out and two fly ball outs to get the job done. (08/25/12)
(SU) Jason Grilli (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday night in a non-save situation giving up two hits while striking out one batter. With this appearance Grilli lowered his earned-run average to 2.33 on the season. (08/22/12)
