Reds Add Closer Jonathan Broxton
As expected, Broxton has been traded to the Cincinnati Reds to help them make a playoff run. He will pitch behind closer Aroldis Chapman and setup man Sean Marshall. Unless we see several injuries in the Reds bullpen, I don’t see Broxton getting anymore saves in 2012.
That leaves the door open for Greg Holland to assume to closer duties for the Kansas City Royals. Holland has had an off/on year so far, posting a 3.63 ERA and 56 Ks in 39.2 innings. He has had a stint on the DL, but looks to take over as closer for the rest of the season and the forseeable future.
Add Holland. While the Royals won’t likely win much the rest of the season, he could be good for 9-12 saves.
